About Me

Hi! I’m glad you’re here! I’m David Chapman, and I’m passionate about Change Management!

Did you know that two out of every three projects that we do fail? Fail to meet business objectives, scope, buy-in, and ultimately ROI? It’s not usually a technology or process breakdown – we usually get those right. It’s the lack of prepared users and adoption that is leading to these poor results. IBM initially performed this study and came up with these results in 2008. Since then, it’s been performed numerous times and each time with same result. If you think about how much money we spend in the United States, much less the world, on projects each year, and thus what percentage of those fail, it’s staggering.

One of my professional goals, and frankly the one that drives me the most, is to be a part of this solution. It starts with having competent Change Management practitioners who can apply Change theory in tactical and meaningful ways on our projects – one project at a time.

I lead the Organizational Change Management practice at Perficient, a leading digital transformation consulting firm serving Global 2000® and enterprise customers throughout North America. One of the things I love to do as part of my job is to help my colleagues and clients understand what Change Management is and the value it brings.

In this blog, I hope to share some of my thoughts, and I welcome yours. Through collaborative thinking, we can all build the breadth and depth of our Change Management knowledge and capability, and we’ll be one step closer to solving our project failures problem.
